John Nana

John Nana
Nana (means chief in Twi) is a young boy who is almost 2 years old. He lives with his aunt Mary in Kpando. His mother died during child birth. It is not known where his father is. Mary comes by once a week or so, sometimes she leaves Nana to play with the other little ones for a few hours, and we give her food stuffs, pampers, formula and, after we have made a trip to the ShopRite in the capital, babies food that is high in protein. He has come a long way since we started sponsoring him. His legs were buckled and it was thought that he would not be able to walk without physical therapy. We are happy to report that Nana is now walking and playing catch, though he is too young to be able to throw the ball very far. He went to the doctor in September, the doctor said that Nana is coming along very well and is getting strong. He is still small for his age but he has plenty of time to grow. He is a very kind boy, he likes to play with toys especially balls, and he enjoys pointing at things and saying ëbaí which we think means ëvaí which means come. He also enjoys drumming and is surprisingly good for a child who is not even two years of age. We are working on getting Nana into day care, this is because Mary sells at the market and Nana is getting big and it pains Mary to carry him around all day on her back.
