Volunteer Information
We are inviting everyone to help us make a big change in the rural communities of the Volta Region of Ghana. Through HardtHaven you have the opportunity to travel to Ghana and make a difference in the lives of needy children and the lives of those in the communities they come from. We are a very small organization, which gives us great flexibility and we can customize your volunteer experience. You can make your stay as short as 2 weeks or as long as 2 years, you can stay with a local family or at our Children’s Home, and you can choose where you want to work. It is all up to you.
*Admittance into the HardtHaven volunteer program is not guaranteed, it is based on a review of your application and references.
Volunteer Program Fees: Please note all fees must be paid in Cheque or Money Order made out to: HardtHaven Children’s Home
-$20USD application fee: your application will be processed once we receive both your application and application fee
-$200USD non-refundable deposit. This deposit must be received within 14 business days of your notification of acceptance into the HardtHaven volunteer program in order for your volunteer spot to be held. This deposit will be put towards your room, board and coordination fees.
-$140USD per week volunteer fee: This fee covers your accommodations and meals while volunteering with HardtHaven. This fee must be paid in full one month before your volunteer trip starts. Please note that once you arrive in Ghana you are no longer eligible for any refunds of your volunteer fee for any reason.
-$95USD soft landing fee (Optional): This fee covers your pick up from the airport by a HardtHaven representative when you arrive in Ghana, accommodations in the capital city if needed and transport to the town HardtHaven is located in (about a 4 hour car ride). As well as drop off at the airport when departing Ghana.
Our programs currently available include volunteer work at:
- Margarette Marquart Hospital
- Medical Clinics
- Another local orphanage (in great need, and not well supported)
- The Special Inclusive School (a school for the disabled)
- Local primary schools
- AIDS education/awareness/testing/counseling (depending on qualifications)
- Various community development projects (ask for details!)
- Or if you have something you are passionate about let us know and we will see what we can arrange!
We cannot pretend to remedy the serious social and economic problems of the countries where we work and send volunteers, but we can set you up to be busy, be effective, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.
